Beingafan,andhavingseenaconsiderableamountofBillPlympton'sdelightfuloutput,Ihavetosaythatthisapparentlylesser-knownworkisoneofmyfavourites.Thevignettesthatnarrateatree'slonglifethroughcenturiescontainaperfectmixofdelicateandnaughtyhumour,alsoelaboratingoneachotherandaddinglayerstothestory,andreachingamagnificentending,theonlyonethatitcouldhavehad,really.FromalltheworksofthePortlandgenius,itisthisshortgemthatIfindmyselfcomingbacktomostoften,andtheexperienceisalwaysarewardingone.Highlyrecommended.
